My lenses... Overview... UPDATED.I was building this collection for years and some lenses evolved from previous versions, such as 85mm 1.4G, or 70-200 VRII... Just a quick overview with some samples...
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED
REVIEW: This is one excellent SWA (Super Wide Angle)! It is probably the best Zoom SWA lens you can buy for any money for any system. It is so good that Canon shooters mounting it on their high resolution cameras via adapters and enjoying with Manual Focus... It is very sharp through the entire range, but the main drawback is that it is big, heavy and has exposed bulging front element without ability to use UV, ND or Grad filters... Yes, there are some adapters available that make it twice as big and cumbersome... First lens in famous Nikon 2.8 Zoom trinity. USE: I use this lens for Landscape Photography as well as Interior Photography where I need a maximum resolution and know that I will be printing those photos BIG... Otherwise I take my 16-35...
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8G ED
REVIEW: Excellent mid range zoom lens. Very fast Auto Focus speed, very sharp in the center, even wide open at F2.8. Excellent lens for group shots. Second lens in famous Nikon 2.8 Zoom trinity. USE: I use this lens for weddings. It is on one of the D3s bodies all the time at Preparations, Ceremony and Reception.
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II

REVIEW: One of my favorite portrait lenses... Very fast focusing, built like tank, VR works great for static subjects. Super sharp wide open with nice bokeh. Heavy. I had 2 versions of VRI before - White Japanese market (got it in 2004) and Black US market (2007) but this VRII is better in terms of AF reliability. USE: Used for weddings. Always on my camera at Ceremony, Reception and daylight photo sessions. When its getting dark - 85mm 1.4G takes its place. Perfect lens for sports! Third lens in famous Nikon 2.8 Zoom trinity. Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED

REVIEW: Special wide angle lens. Excellent bokeh when shooting close subjects. Irreplaceable when no flash allowed in very dark churches. Paired with 85mm 1.4G saved the day several times... USE: I use it for Weddings - Preparations shots as well as dark venue situations and night shooting. Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR

REVIEW: Nice range, very sharp. VR works great! If I limited to only one lens - this is it! Most versatile lens in my collection and worth every penny! USE: Used for studio, travel as well as one lens solution for almost everything, including weddings. Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6 ED VR

REVIEW: This super telephoto zoom lens is so sharp - I didn't really expect it... Fast enough for birds in flight as well as sports, as long as you have enough light. USE: Used for church long shots from balcony, sports and travel. Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 85mm f/1.4G
REVIEW: I can easily say that this is my favorite portrait lens! Sharp wide open, fast enough for portraits, stunning bokeh. Before I had 85mm 1.8D and 85mm 1.4D that was not consistent with AF due to the slack of the screwdriver AF. This 85mm 1.4G has much more reliable AF. USE: Used for Weddings, Engagements and portraits. Nikon AF Fisheye NIKKOR 16mm f/2.8D

REVIEW: Special lens that brings you a special look of the area you shooting. Love it a lot, but never shoot portraits with it... :-) USE: Used mostly for weddings at Ceremonies and Receptions. Tamron 90mm f/2.8 ED SP IF Di Macro ![]()
REVIEW: Very sharp macro lens. The only lens in my arsenal that is not Nikon. I don't trust any third party lenses (Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, etc.) for their inconsistent AF, but since it is used in Manual Focus only - it doesn't matter. I had Nikon 105VR Micro before, but it is a much bulkier and heavier lens so I decided to sell it and get this light and compact Tamron. I would say that optically they are the same. USE: Used mostly for weddings ring shots and fine details. Sometimes used for other applications like insects and flowers.
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR
USE: Travel. This lens + 16-35 and you are basically completely covered! For super low light I may suggest to throw 50mm to the bag.
Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G
REVIEW: I don't use this lens a lot... Light, cheap and sharp lens. I had many iterations of Nikon 50mm lenses including 1.8D, 1.4D, 1.4G but this 1.8G is a clear winner in terms of sharpness wide open and value. I guess 50mm is not really for me... I like ether 85mm or something much wider. USE: Mostly for family shoots in dim light. It is in my bag when I travel for occasional dim light opportunities... Sometimes used for portraits when 24mm is too short and 85mm is too long...
